Based in Valenciana, Guanajuato, in the mountains of Central Mexico, The Research Studio of Pantomime-Theatre A.C. is an international school of Comic Physical Theatre serving a broad community. We offer international workshops, ongoing classes for specialists, amateurs and children, in addition to developing and performing our own creations, and special projects in communities and schools in the U.S. and abroad.
Our campus includes an outdoor amphitheater, Teatro Tanque La Valenciana, and indoor theatre/teaching studio, a library and kitchen for student and faculty use and a dormitory for visiting students and professors. The teaching and performing facilities are surrounded by separate gardens and courtyards, which provide a variety of rehearsal spaces as well as private study areas.
Founded in 1972 by Sigfrido Aguilar, Mexican Mime-Clown, Creator and Director, the Studio has since established itself as a center of contemporary pantomime in North America and Latin America and an umbrella organization dedicated to the promotion of popular theatre arts throughout Mexico.
